Job Description:   

Our Camp Councilors will work with the Programs Team to plan and implement outdoor programs and summer camps for youth ages 6-12. This job will provide experience in program development, environmental education, and outdoor recreation while working alongside experienced staff members.  
  
Primary Responsibilities: 

Program Support 

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering outdoor programs for youth, including camps. 

  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences such as nature crafts, wildlife observation, and outdoor skills training. 

Youth Engagement 

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for program participants. 

  • Lead small groups of children through activities, ensuring safety and encouraging participation. 

  • Foster a connection to nature. 

Safety and Supervision 

  • Monitor youth participants to ensure their safety and adherence to program guidelines. 

  • Assist in managing outdoor risks and maintaining a safe environment during activities. 

Program Preparation and Maintenance 

  • Set up and clean-up program materials and spaces before and after activities. 

  • Maintain and organize outdoor equipment and supplies. 

Collaboration and Communication 

  • Work closely with team members to execute programs effectively 

  • Communicate with parents/guardians about program details, participant needs, and updates. 

Learning and Development 

  • Observe and contribute ideas for enhancing program quality and participant experience. 

Other Duties 

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the goals of the youth outdoor programs. 

Qualifications:  

  • Enthusiasm for working with youth and the outdoors  

  • Strong organizational and communication skills   

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team  

  • Comfortable working in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions  

  • Must be at least 16 years old 
     

  • Must be available to work the following weeks 

  • June 1st – 5th 

  • June 15th – 19th 

  • July 13th – 17th  

  • July 20t – 24th  

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
